While investigating a planar gate open near his office, Sam discovers a man attempting to use an iron collar to enslave Jes. Jes is a newly formed planar Lady who doesn't even understand what she is. Sam disposes of the would-be slave master by dumping him into Jes' plane (which is so new it doesn't have air), but, much to his chagrin, finds that Jes has attached herself to him and he can't seem to bring himself to force her to leave. Even more surprising is the discovery that Jes can feed off his orgasms which makes her unique among succubi. Sam's questions about her background lead to the discovery that Jes was formerly an Imp bound to Jenaphila but was apparently betrayed and imprisoned in a plane which made her a planar Lady. Presumably Jenaphila then provided the summoning information to the would-be slave master who was only thwarted by Sam's intervention. This discovery is part of the reason for Sam's sympathetic reaction to her situation. Despite Sam's reservations, Jes decides that he is her partner and behaves as such. When Sam is summoned to help Alison, Jes accompanies him to St. Anthony. The events there lead to her decision to form a private military company with the intention of stealing from criminals. She begins to implement this plan by binding Tiffany and Wren, quickly followed by Stacia, Carissa, and Irene. Since she feeds from Sam as he feeds from his partners, she makes it explicit in her agreements with her bonds that they will feed him so she can feed too. As Jes grows into her power, her link with Sam strengthens and they intend to eventually merge their planes. |

The bulk of Jes' time is spent controlling Inc-Suc PMC, on legitimate and criminal organization raids. Sam and Jes' relationship continues to develop as Sam becomes more "human" and Jes recalls her former life. While Sam is trapped by the planar block during the protection detail, Jes faced an extreme starvation situation. Despite this, she still refused to feed from anyone but Sam. This led to a breakthrough for Sam where he became able to feed from Jes. Sam and Jes (and Aster) exchange Brands, effectively marrying them. |
